CLONING

The Cloning Bill in the West Australian Parliament Upper House offered a  free vote to permit  cloning for humans and allow the future research to find  cures or maybe find ways to prevent the occurance of some of our awful illnesses. The politicians decided against human cloning, sounding the death warrant on so many sufferers of alzheimers and motor neurone desease etc. Pollies now decide who lives and dies, how many of them told us that when they canvassed to be elected. The way they voted should be published but thats not so, the local rag would sooner print an article by an ex liberal pollie of little significance about a previous free vote. Its quite odd that this pollie has the audacity to draw a comparison between the two bills. The Bill he supported was to abolish capital punishment in 1984. That permitted murderers to be spared the death penalty in line with most civilised countries of the world. The cloning bill has also been seen to be acceptable to every state in Australia except Western Australia so save the lives of murderers and let the sick that might be saved with research die. How many of these pollies actually visited any of the sufferers before they voted on this bill and saw what the impact of their action would be on these unfortunate people. What right has a politician to decide who lives or dies.

This is a medical issue and should be dealt with by medical persons who have first hand knowledge of the level of suffering and the benefits of cloning research. Politicians take too much on themselves and ex pollies are even worse and will say anything to get their names in the local rag.

Cloning is not about political point scoring its about people, people that are worse off than many of us certainly worse off than those at the top of St Georges Terrace.

Have an early election by all means but I dare you to remove compusory voting because none of you would have a bloody job.
