The MTA is showng just how bad it manages its business or come to that if it manages it all. The proposed fare rises and re-scheduleing is an admission of its failure and lack of ideas to fix a problem that they have brought on themselves. The trains themselves are a joke, filthy, windows scratched, commuters that use it as an overnight doss house, daytime commuters that use it as a mobile diner, bringing their food to consume on the train and leaving the smelly rubbish behind when they leave…….. Its a disgrace. The MTA should ask themselves what the ssem is all about and who the main users are and for what purpose. Maybe I can enlighten them somewhat. I make 4 trips a day from Queens to manhatten and return naturally so I see the trains at different times of the day and the difference in the type of commuters. Does anyone from the MTA ever take the time to do this and get some idea the needs and possible wastage. I bet they dont. The easy fix is always to put up the fares and cut the service, job done. The commuter pays for the MTA’s inneficiency. So why not look a little deeper into better ways to manage the situation and bring things into perspective. The “Rush Hour” is exactly what it says commuters rushing to get to their places of employment and believe me there is no comfort in the trip. Maybe you can get a seat but thats in the lap of the gods but that goes with the territory. Thes commuters are heading to a place of employment and that place is a place that makes a profit from there being employed there. Wouldnt t be more just for the employers to contribute to the system which their employees have to use to get to work. Would it not make more sense that you get the money from those that can afford it or at least have it. The billions of dollars that is needed to operate the system and the losses that are obviously occuring must show up and can be pinpointed to a particular area or areas so what are they and where are they. Tell us. Retraining of the guards might be a good idea, announcements are a joke, closing the doors seems to be a task thats played as a game to try and close the doors while commuters are still trying to get off and then try and trap anyone trying to get on. The MTA system is undoubtably in a mess and so are the people that run it. Make a start, prohibit food on trains, let people eat it where they buy it. If you are going to cu services then create a timetable to stick to so people dont have to stand on a station platform and pray for a train to come. Let them KNOW when its coming, better co-ordinate transfers from one train to another. Not five “E” and “F” trains arriving at Roosevelt and trying to fit on one “R or “V” train. Encourage weekend commuters to use the system by inceasing the service not having cliens standing around not knowing when a train is coming at anytime. Start getting professional and earn the wages you get. Mr Bloomberg you are not worthy of another term you are losing your leadership direction for the people of New York unless maybe you want to be a train guard that is. Cancelling trains is not an option and only goes to show how incompetent the MTA administration is.
3rd October 2008 tonight the big debate Sarah Palin V Joe Biden main topic appeas to be foreign policy. Very Interesting. Lets not forget that this about being Vice President and if youre capable to handle the job of president should the president Kark it.
Lets have a look at the current situation or how it has been for the past eight fours. The Vice President is and has been Dick Cheney, thats just in case you have never heard of him. Did he or has he ever had a foreign policy, does anyone know what it is or was? Australian troops have been fighting side by side with US forces in Afganistan and Iraq, does Cheney know where Australia is? I doubt it very much. Outside of the U.S. Dick Cheney is a nobody but everybody and his/her dog knows Condelessa Rice shes the front person and seems tireless in her movements around the world trying to bring people together. So whats all this foreign policy bullshit, Obama knows no more than Palin or Biden. Congress will create the policy thats to be carried out regardless of any thoughts Obama, McCain, Palin or Biden may have. The Polidiots will create the policy and somebody like Ms Rice will go around the world spruking it and try and do what they hope can be done. On the other matter Vice President becoming President if something awful occurs are you the American people telling me you endorsed Dick Cheney because you thought he could govern your country as president. Get outer here youre f…..king kiding me, so when is someone gonna stand up and tell the truth and have the guts to say we dont want Palin because she is a FEMALE and Obama didnt have the brains to select Hilary Clinton as his running mate. Obama is a showman and right now the polidiots are turning the USA into a circus so he might just feel at home in the White House…… Sorry folks but thats my opinion.
Everyone knows right now that things are not going to well for the average person worldwide. Average I mean the person/s that go to work and earn enough money to keep them fed, clothed and rent paid with enough for Petrol/gas for the car. The governments say they will take less tax from a pay packet but you can bet your life that increases in everything else will give it back to them.
Oil is being sold in excess of $US100 a barrel as opposed to what it was a year or so ago around $US30 and it all gets sold through OPEC to maintain a standard price. Now we all know that oil companies are ripping us off, they are the controllers of imports and exports etc. Petrol/gas prices alter daily and sometimes more than once in a day, the media tells us the high price of oil and the next day the petrol is more expensive. So we are to believe that oil purchased on Monday in New York at $US105 is processed and in the petrol stations in a couple of day. Bullshit…whats the truth exactly what price has been paid for the fuel we are using today why is it impossible to reverse revenue to assist the ordinary family man/woman with this burden. Every time the fuel goes up in price some government asshole says they are watching for any abnormality, nothing about the excise its reaping in out of every litre sold. So here in Australia and I would think the USA also, and any other country out of the middle east producers, their oil is being sold through the same OPEC channels and reaping a huge profit on current prices so what stops the governments ploughing those profits back with some of the excise revenue to relieve the burden on Mr Average. Plain fucking greed, we dont count in the eyes of polititians who get their huge allowances for anything they require, the scum that rule us with a smile. Wheres the media? too bothered stirring up stuff about about Heath Ledger and Britney Spears to care about us, too politically biased one way or the other to care about the things that matter to us. One page of real news and the rest advertising and irrelivant crap plus the conveyance for filling our houses with all the leaflets and mags from all the grocery outlets and fast food chains.
Banks…make billions in profits for their shareholders and directors but the peole who have loans and are battling to pay their mortgages get no consideration at all from them and no relief offered…………… They are the lowest of the low.
Supermarkets pretend to be everyones friend willing to help lower the pressure on families but their prices are a reflection of the help they give…….NONE…………Profiteers thats all they are…………..Shitheads the lot of them……Do you agree?
I guess I am a whinging bastard coz things just dont seem to be right from my way of thinking. This is Australia its a country that stands on its own surrounded by water, a big island approx 22 million people so what have we got. Good question. Il tell you what we got and nobody seems to care except obviously me. We have a wonderful country sadly the head of it is a lady that lives in London and has a representative in all states and territories so I guess shes the boss and is a queen of many domains. Good for her. Thats one pile of bullshit. Next. In the USA they are going through a bad patch and their economy is in some sort of turmoil with housing and credit cards etc. now this is serious stuff for us, so serious that the banks here Commonwealth NAB ANZ and whoever else has to put their interest rates up for us to pay more coz these banks have borrowed money from there. Isnt that f….king great. The next thing which has alwys enchanted me is a real beauty, the price of our fuel, petrol/gas call it what you like is set in Singapore now I guess I have an identity problem here coz who the F…k are we, do we have any control at all, does any Australian own a deli or fish and chip shop anymore, not here they dont. So I ask the question when will Australia become a real country and not just the place people refer to as the land down under that has kangaroos and is good at cricket. So COME ON AUSSIE COME ON lets at least look like we own this country……or do we?
Ive just returned from the USA where unfortunately nobody has ever heard of Western Australia, let alone Perth. But thats ok, thats not the fault of the citizens of the USA its our bad tourist beareau that is so short sighted it allows the Eastern side of our country to dictate what anyone knows about Australia and we dont get a mention. Amyway thats another subject. Ive arrived home in time for the general election and the right to be made to vote (like it or not or be procecuted) so having been spared all the crap that spills from the mouths of the Camberra Liars during the past six months I have to make a decision who to vote for. There isnt one of them I personally have respect for and whoever wins the job to govern will be no different from the last. The liberals are far from liberal and are just outright conservatives and only for the monied classes. They have displayed their priorities over the past four years by achieving nothing that hasnt been of direct benefit to themselves. They scorn the elderly and young alike. The Labour party well what does that mean, how many of them have ever done a days labour many years ago the labour party base was men that had come from the shop floor and had actually got their hands dirty. Not now, now they all attend university to study politics and are all tarred with the same brush nothing more than a bunch of carpetbaggers. So will we see the end of John and have his replacement the grinning fool who actually thinks he is funny, god help us dont let Costello loose on us. OR will it be the the good ship Labour hope to steer and navigate its way into our hearts with a new RUDD-ER and no doubt more promises to break. It doesnt matter does its going to happen whoever wins will win for themselves not us thats the way its been and thats the way it will stay. I just hate that I have to give up my time to go and vote for these awful people, whichever way it is punishment for not voting or punishment afterwards whoever wins. Its going to be punishment in one form or another. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU. I guess theres one thing we should be happy about. we only got this mumbling jerk John, the Yanks have got George Bush what punishment that is…………….bye
The mind boggles for a visitor to your city when it comes to reading what your powers to be actually want put in place by law or intent that is supposedly for your benefit. I previously posted a blog regarding in regards to the MTA and its price increase, I mentioned in that blog the cleanliness or lack of it on the subway trains, now it seems your Mayor who seems to have total control of everything here is going to increase the number of cleaners on the subway by 11% I think I read. Is this man NUTS, he recently went to London to look into security cameras in action on their subway system and I suppose security cameras in general. Incidently I read that in the UK there is one camera for each 14 people and thats an incredible statistic if thats true. Anyway back to the subject, the subway commuter day start around 6.30am I would think and if you travel at that time the trains are reasonably clean and tidy. Thats the beginning of the day for those commuters to bring their breakfast on the train because they cant leave home a bit earlier or get up a bit earlier to actually consume their food before they get on the train, of course it would be ridiculous to think they could get up in time to actually eat like a human being before they leave the house. So progressively through the day the commuters bring and eat their food and dispense their newspapers and junk on the seats and floor of the train. The Mayors answer to the filthy unhygenic problem is to employ another 11% more cleaners to pick up the crap. This guys the Mayor? he s in charge of things here, boy does New York have a problem with him in charge. I visited Taiwan a few years ago and was impressed at the cleanliness of their subway system, and they achieved it in a way thats beyond comprehension in the city of New York with a Mayor that has the power to put things into operation yet doesnt have the brain power to find the correct solution to a problem. Im going to suggest to him a solution to the problem and it seems to work in Taiwan, STOP COMMUTERS TAKING THE CRAP ON THE TRAINS……..enforse rules or laws prohibiting food and drink beyond a certain point at the station and provide adequate recepticles to receive the rubbish. Transform your cleaners or a proportion of them plus the 11% you intend to employ if needed to ensure and enforce the law of cleanliness and hygene, its beyond all belief that anyone can enforce laws that ban smoking on trains and most other places yet cant stop them eatin and disposing rubbish on subway trains……………Fortunately Mayors in Australia dont have the same powers that they have in the USA which is a good thing in my eyes, I havent seen any bright ideas come from your Mayors thats actually benefit the general public. Your Mayors are politically active enough to run for President so lets face it if this Mayor has his eye on the White House in the future which might lead to cleaning up the world like the present one then make a start for the high office by cleaning up the New York subway system…………Thanks
Im sure there is a lot of giggles and smiles after the prank episode by the Chaser Group and Red Faces on the part of the police. But ask yourselves how serious it is and what will be the outcome. Maybe through all the laughter you havent given it much thought, well just THINK about it. In Australia security tends to be copycat and follows other nations styles and methods and pranks like the one pulled by the Chaser Group to take the piss out of the police might just lead to a bit more tightening up security and what does that mean to us…….. LESS FREEDOM of movement thats what it means and will you all be laughing then and will Chaser and his idiots be standing up and chanting hey look we caused that, like F…K they will. Im in the US right now and security is noticeable when you go to any event football baseball etc. Inconvenient, I suppose so, but everyone knows the reason for it and accepts it as a precaution for their safety. It took a vile terrorist act to bring this action into everyday life with security forces at different places consstantly alert.
The fun and games of the chaser group will bring tighter security to Australia and if thats what they intended to do then stand up and say it and forget the piss taking and hiding behind a so called prank. Personally I hope they get jailed for it if it was only a joke. The rest of us are going to have to live with the consequences for everafter believe me. Being serched at sporting events where there are huge crowds and more cameras like the Poms and they dont complain one camera for every fourteen people there’s freedom and privacy for you how do you liike them apples Chaser. Youre a bunch of F….K…G mugs that can do those things because Australia is still a great place to live and feel free and people like you are going to destroy it for the rest of us and we will suffer to satisfy your personal ego. Thanks a lot MATE.
Firstly let me explain how I come to write this blog. Im an Ausstralian visiting the US at this time and I decided to take a look at any news that was of interest to me that was happening in Australia. So typing in Australian News I get news.com.au so I proceed to read whats going on and making I suppose headlines there. Doctors being quizzed regarding UK bombings ,Bart Simpson’ s frontal nudity (gravitating stuff that) and the new seven wonders of the world. Nothing there that deserves my comments or wasting time to read it. But as I scrolled down the page I could not believe what I saw and subsequently read. Entitled “Can we really trust young people to vote”………….”Youth too ignorant to vote” by a Mitchel Toy a University Student (no age supplied)’ on the 6th July 2007 at 1.00 am. Based on a report by the Federal Government which stated “civic education sorely needed” To those that do not know there is an election about to happen in Australia in October I think so I guess it all gloves off stuff at this time. So back to Mr Toy. This article by the way was printed and published by the Herald Sun a newspaper Ive never read and never will mainly as it lives on the other side of Australia from where I live, thank goodness.
Read the first nine lines of this article and he describes why the youth are not ready to vote and are more likely to vote for someone in Big Brother than either of our political party leaders Mr Howard (prime minister) and Mr Rudd (opposition leader) i guess in his opinion, he does not say whether that is a good or bad idea. Just about all the reat of the article is given to telling why our youth are not to be trusted to vote, citing that they are more interested in the Argentine revolutionary that was accused of sending many people to their deaths. They are glorifying him he says by wearing tee shirts with his picture on them and by buying belt buckles and other merchandise. The youth are ignorant of his deeds. So there you are our youth today can not be trussted to vote because this guy Ernesto has been glorified since the 60s says Mr Toy. The people who voted then, presumably before he was born (him..Mr Toy still being a student or could be Australias oldest Uni student) are now in their late 50s or around sixty were they incompetant, ignorant, I was around, I voted, I wasnt ignorant, stupid maybe but not ignorant. We have had many governments since the 60s none very good, still have the same problems, hospitals, police, transport, education, most of these politicians were probably university students that knew everything and who still think they do Mr Toy. Mr Toy says todays youth dont care about real politik but do care about rebellion against capitalism, Mr Toy youth have always been vocal and always will be whoever they see as their martyr will always be their motivation to change in their minds their futures. I for one detest having to suffer the compulsory voting system I tried to get myself off the electoral roll because I think its un democratic to be made to go and vote on a given day or be fined by liars cheats and generally people that are in the seat of parliament for their own ends as proven by the massive superanution payouts they recieve when they leave office. The baby kissers are now out in full force Mr Toy and youre the only one they are fooling a comment to your page was from a doctor in Perth who thinks that all people are too ignorant to vote I guess he means except doctors. Thats an interesting concept I guess go to the doctors for a prescription to vote.
Finally on all this crap the Herald Sun invites comments on Mr Toys article before you do read their publication and their privacy policies and you will see how bright the doctor is. Personally I think the Herald Sun has done itself irrepairable damage printing this ridiculous article.
To get things started here I like to voice my moan thats festered over the past few years and remembering Im not the brightest star on the tree Im sure theres a simple explanation its just that Ive missed it. Im sure this is an Australian problem so I have to say it may be isolated to our country, never-the-less Id like an explanation. As a nation we have the Australian Dollar as our currency the highest denomination is $A100 then 50 – 20 – 10 – 5 all notes. coinage we have $2 – 1 then 50 cents, 20 – 10 -5 and this we have accepted over the past few years since the withdrawal of the 1 and 2 cent pieces which indeed accumulated and became a burden on the pocket/purse etc.
However the adjustment to the currency by the withdrawal of the minimal coins was I suppose to make it easier for everyone making purchases where the total ended at 97 – 98 – 99 cents etc. But whose conning who? prices are still organised so the end result is 97 – 98 – 99 cents the difference now is you dont get any change. The cash register shows $A9. 97cents but they take $A10 and in amongst that there is the added GST (somewhere) the tax we weere never going to have according to our soon to depart Prime Minister. So thats one situation that you can apply to the general stores and supermarkets then we move on to petrol/gas/service staions call them what title you like they have fractional prices they decimalise the single cent, now remember Im not bright, but how smart is the guy that thought that one up. So my question is where does this non exitant no change given money go? Who actually ends up with it? the treasurer? God Bless Him, or the retailer or the poor struggling oil companies.
Some basic sums very basic and somewhat vague in my esstimations. 2000 customers pass through a supermarket in any given day and pay the invisible one cent o a purchase, thats a mere $20thats the bottom line and 3 cents is $60 not much to get too upset about I spose (unless you think like I do) so how many supermarkets and corner shops and markets are there? 1000 maybe 10.000 so what we got now 60.000 to 600.000 a day? not bad pickings Oh I forgot, then theres the petrol/gas/services staions too. Whatever is happenening to that money in these days of accountability we should know where it goes and whats done with it. How many hospitals would it run or wages for more police, nurses whoever/whatever if youre going to rob us tell us what your doing with the money, is this the treasurers future fund that he doesnt want to spend on ordinary Australians, lets have some answers.
Finally in the USA they still use the penny or one cent in their currency this allows the consumer to their correct change from their purchases even tho there is evidence of its worthlessness on the sidewalks as nobody will pick them up. At the least you still have it and it ensures you get the correct change, there is talk of its withdrawal but dont be fooled that everything will be rounded off at a dime nickel or a quarter coz it just WONT HAPPEN
